Ministry

Volunteer, Choir, Stewardship

Services are held once a week on Sunday morning from 10-11 am.

Holy Communion is provided on the first Sunday of each month and at church holidays.  It is available to all who desire to participate.  Children participate at the discretion of their parents.  In this service we seek to bring glory to God through the singing of hymns, choral music, scripture readings and Bible-based sermons. This service is designed to be more of a relaxed worship atmosphere where folks dress comfortably.

Following the service, refreshments are served in the fellowship hall. This is an ideal time to meet your neighbors and catch up on the local news and church activities.

Church services are also scheduled for all of the usual church celebrations such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter and Christmas.

Join Us!

First Christian Church has a group of dedicated people who seek to involve new members and existing members in a variety of activities.

They greet members and visitors on Sundays and welcome visitors with a loaf of freshly baked bread and periodically invite new members to activities.

Additionally, they coordinate dinner and plan events that are open to members and friends.

In September, the church gathers for their annual picnic at the George Davidson’s Camp.  They’ve also held a newcomers luncheon and held a cookie swap in December.

If you enjoy meeting new people, there is always an activity for you to join!

Choir

The choir is an integral part of all church services with a wide range of musical selections and presentation styles.  Participants range in age from junior high school to 70+ and they have a wonderful time together.   Musical instruments are often utilized.  Choir robes are provided.

We welcome new choir members as well as summer residents and visitors who wish to sing with the choir while they are in the area.  Simply come to choir rehearsal on Tuesdays from 7 to 8:15 pm.  The choir takes a break during the month of August.

George T. Davidson, Jr. Scholarship

Each year $800 – $1,000 scholarships are awarded to area students from a memorial fund established several years ago. This scholarship is open to anyone who intends to further their education in an accredited post-secondary institution.  Applications may be obtained from the Kennett Regional High School or from the church office 539-6484 or fccf1858@gmail.com.  Applications are due by May 1.

A committee of church members will select recipients and the scholarship is awarded at the awards ceremony of Kennett High School.  These scholarships may be renewed on an annual basis as well.  Students wishing to renew, must use the same application and submit an attached essay.

Property Stewardship

Do you like to repair things or assist with the maintenance of our building?  If so, you might want to volunteer with the First Christian Church of Freedom Trustees.  Under the able direction of Charlie Bojus, they oversee the general upkeep of the church building and the parsonage, both located on Elm Street.

They can always use an extra set of hands, so contact the church office if you’d like to share your talent.

Finance

Do you like to work with numbers or review budgets, then you might want to work with the First Christian Church of Freedom Finance Committee?  You could serve as a committee member, work on Sundays with the Financial Secretary or help to audit the books.

We always need people with financial expertise who are willing to share these talents.  Contact the church office or speak to our treasurer, Paul Olzerowicz.
