George T. Davidson, Jr. Scholarship

This scholarship was created by the First Christian Church of Freedom to honor the Reverend George T. Davidson, Jr. at his retirement from Kennett High School in the summer of 1976. He served the school from 1939 to 1976 as coach, teacher, director of guidance, and principal. He served as minister of this Church from 1953 to 1989.

Each year, $1,000 scholarships are awarded to individuals intending to further their education at an accredited postsecondary institution. All are eligible to apply, including graduating high school seniors, home schoolers, and adult learners whether pursuing an educational path or vocational one.

For consideration, students must submit the Scholarship application form that includes biographical information; academic performance & transcripts of grades; work and volunteer experience; future academic plans; and an essay. A committee of church members will select Scholarship recipients with awards announced in late May.

Previous Davidson Scholarship awardees may reapply following the same application requirements and will be considered along with current applicants.

The Scholarship application is available by clicking the link below. You may also pick up a copy from the Church office during open hours: Wednesday & Thursday, 9 am to 1 pm.

The deadline for submission is May 1st. Mail applications to First Christian Church of Freedom, 12 Elm Street, Box 502, Freedom, NH 03836. Only complete hard-copy applications will be reviewed by the committee.
